Fabulous! A must try on Folly. Great food, quick, and inexpensive. We love the Sunny chicken and the cuban. Although I have yet to have anything that wasn't great!

The Cuban crepe is as delicious as the reviews say. Fresh ingredients and original flavor and presentation made this a perfect quick lunch. It was light but filling. Husband had the sunny chicken and it was also great. Tasted fresh and Mediterranean. Daughter had an ice cream crepe that was also fab. Highly recommend for a quick bite when you are at the beach.

Tokyo Crepes is amazing and is quickly becoming a Folly staple. If you're at Folly, you have to get a crepe

Really yummy! Husband and I had the sunny chicken. Delicious! These were my first crepes and they were great. They also have another location. It was a great fast beach lunch. Price was a little in the high side and I would like to try some of the fruit crepes. :)

Pros: My crepe was FILLED with tasty ingredients and LOTS of spinach! The dude working the truck was friendly and funky. My husband loved his cubano crepe. A neat/unique spot on Folly....we were glad we checked it out! Cons: I have had better wraps/sandwiches. Perhaps if I had a sweet crepe, rather than a savory crepe, I would be less likely to compare to other stellar options around time. I am looking forward to trying something sweet next time we're on Folly. FYI: during the winter, they are only open on the weekends.

Got the turkey bacon and cheese + hot sauce. It was good but WAY too much cheese and was light on the egg. :/ If I went back I'd request easy on the cheese...

We had both a breakfast sandwich and the Cuban from this wonderful food truck. And they were wonderful it was only highlighted by the fresh peach cobbler crepe that we had for dessert.

I didn't love my gluten free tuna salad crepe, but I did love that they were friendly, helpful about my food allergy, and the portion was large. Their coffee was really good too. And to be fair, I should have ordered a sweet crepe. Pretty good experience at a super cute little food truck.

Getting my crepe took a while, but it was worth the wait. It was one of the best crepes I've had! I had the Nutella banana crepe and I especially appreciated that they diced the banana instead of putting big slices of it like most places do.

Associate at the counter was very friendly, probably one of the friendliest in Folly beach! The crepes were ok. I thought they were slightly overpriced for what you get.

This place satisfied every sweet dessert craving I had. A perfectly made crepe with fresh apples, corn flakes for crunch, Ice cream, whipped cream and caramel drizzle on top! Do not go to folly beach without trying these!

The crepes here, per the owner, are cooked in Japanese tradition - that is, a thinner and fluffier crepe with ingredients that are only cooked with the crepe (not pre cooked). We got the Mediterranean, made with feta cheese, 3 falafel balls, spinach, and tzatziki sauce. Nothing particularly unique, would probably opt for a sweeter crepe, which seems in line with the owners recommendation.

Fresh, handmade, and as healthy or as you want, or don't want to make them! The Cuban and the Nutty nut are the absolute best! Had to make at least 3 visits to this fantastic little food truck during our week stay! Soooo good!

I wanted to give more stars but the crepe really wasn't anything special. I got The Dream, which had strawberries, custard, chocolate syrup and a load of whipped cream. It was generic tasting but satisfied my sweet tooth. The dessert crepes are all $5 or less; the savory crepes are available for $7ish. Ok for a snack, especially considering the area it's in, but nothing to rave about. One concern I have is how well the employees wash their hands. They use a porta potty a few yards away from the crepe truck... Hm.

Great place. It's just a block from the beach and a block east of Center Street so very convenient. As it's a food truck, I wasn't expecting any seating so it was a pleasant surprise to find seven or so chairs beside it (with a large umbrella providing shade) which is great for waiting for your food (or eating on the scene). I was here yesterday for the first time. I got five different crepes (to go) to share between my dad and me. Great experience and I definitely recommend them. Sunny Chicken (grilled chicken, spinach, feta cheese, sun dried tomato, & homemade tzatziki sauce) Smokey Pork (smoked pulled pork, cucumber, homemade tzatziki sauce, feta cheese, cheddar cheese, & corn) - my favorite of the two entree crepes Crunchy Apple (apple, Frosted Flakes, whipped cream, caramel sauce, & ice cream) Sweet Devil (strawberry, sweet red beans, whipped cream, caramel sauce, vanilla ice cream, & a couple strawlike biscuits covered in chocolate called Pocky) The Dream (a choice of fruit - mixed berries/ strawberries/ bananas, homemade custard pudding, whipped cream, chocolate syrup) - my favorite of the dessert crepes

This was the perfect end to a great day on Folly Beach! Fresh and tasty! We only had the sweet kiss so I don't have much to write about. Just go its worth it. At first it seemed pricey but the thing was huge enough for us to share! Autum, I think was her name, was very friendly and welcoming.

I went there around at 8pm and they were open. I honestly love the vibe of this place. The Japanese girl who makes the crepes was very friendly and helpful. Their crepes range from sweet crepes to savory ones. You can customize or order the ones on the menu. The service was quick and easy. The crepes are awesome, not mind-blowing awesome, but pretty awesome. Big bonus: they do take credit cards. Dont let the look of the small kiosk fools you. No worries if you never have cash on you, like me. Enjoy!

What a fun alternative to restaurant dessert, and so yummy! If you had told me I'd ever buy a dessert crepe from a food truck in a sandlot parking lot at the beach, I'd have thought you were nuts. But yes I did, and you should, too! In my "better yelper" days, I would've reviewed them sooner after visiting, and could've quoted the specific crepe I had with nutella and yummy banana goodness, but alas, life is busy and I didn't do that. But super affordable, super beach casual chic, and you'll be glad you ventured off the main drag a bit to give them a try. Very Folly in feel, you won't go wrong no matter what you choose.

Always fast and friendly and so tasty. I've tried the Cuban, Mediterranean and sunny chicken. All of them are really well done- well seasoned, carefully prepared. Thought has been put into the menu. Portions are good- perfect for lunch. You could also definitely get away with being healthy here with several of their options. Or you can go the other way altogether with lots of their dessert type crepes. Nothing but good experiences- plus their logo mascot sugar glider is the best ever.

Love this place. The first time we went the crepe was crispy and delicious. The second time we ordered 4 and she gave them to us after all were cooked, which allowed the crepe to get soggy. Ask for them to come to the window as they're finished for best and freshest flavor. I've only tried the savory crepes, and the fillings of each have been amazing. As a vegetarian, I love the Mid East Miracle - falafel, spinach, feta, tzaziki (add sundried tomatoes). So good! The falafel is crunchy, and the tzaziki homemade. Our group also had the Cuban - pulled pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, lettuce, sriracha - and the Smokey Pork - pulled pork, cheddar, corn, feta, tzaziki - both were great.

I had the opportunity to chat with the owner of Tokyo Crepes while having a drink at Chico Feo and I must say he's a very cool individual. I've had quite a few crepes from here but my all time favorite is the crunchy apple. Its the ultimate dessert crepe. There's something for everyone at this great food truck and they even serve breakfast. If you're in the Folly Beach area this spot is a must try.

OMG, yummy yummy yummy yum!!!!!!!!! I had the dynamite crepe and every bite of it was absolutely awesome! I won't even think about how many calories I had consumed, but this was better than going for fro yo AND I can sacrifice having to work out a little bit harder from time to time! BUT, if you are trying to be conscious about the calories and enjoying sweet delicious desserts, then they make sandwich crepes too (think instead of a wrap). You can pick your own ingredients, if you don't find anything that you like on the menu. I'll be back. I'll definitely be back. I have a banana nutella to claim (great marketing idea, btw). But I do want to try the lunch crepes too!

Four of us ate at Tokyo Crepe and the food we agreed was so so. The bad part was about 2 hours later when 3 of us got sick. We had to go back to our hotel. Ruined our vacation. The next day we wondered where they washed their hands or used the restroom... There is a port o John behind the truck with reeds wrapped around it and an empty/broken wash station. Now we know where the flys were coming from too. All horrible. Folly beach must have some super lax DHEC regulations. Tokyo crap.

Nothing special really. Got the Mediterranean crepe. The guy used what looked like an old crepe that had been sitting around. Only three very small falafels crumbled into the crepe. Wouldn't come back.

Great location right on folly beach, directly off folly road. I really thought I was going to love this place, after having passed it several times. Unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations...Mainly because of the attitude from the staff, however I'll cover that in the second half of the review. The crepe itself was mediocre. I've had lot's of crepes, from all over the world, so I think I'm a good judge. I had the Mid East Miracle which was okay, the consistency of the batter was very good - it was almost crunchy on the edges. I thought it was very bland and could have used way more spices, but the ingredients used were relatively fresh which was definitely appreciated. If I hadn't had such a negative interaction with one of the staff, then I would go back and maybe try something that looks like it would have a stronger flavor - or I would get a desert crepe. The interaction that rubbed me the wrong way was that I walked up to the stand and the guy working immediately commented on my hat. Not that it matters, but it's one of those OBEY logo hats - and he rolled his eyes and said, "yea, it's even more ironic coz it has the copyright logo on it, right?" and then shook his head. I felt like he was implying that I didn't understand the meaning of the hat, or that I was a loser or poser for wearing the hat. I kind of suppressed the urge to justify myself for wearing the hat. I suppressed the urge to mention that I sun burn very easily, and my mom has skin cancer, so I like to wear a lot of coverage, even after applying copious amounts of high SPF sunscreen. I suppressed the urge to tell him that I don't really care about fashion, and that it's not like I spent a lot of money jumping on some bandwagon - I bought the hat years ago in Cambodia for the equivalent of 4 US dollars. I suppressed the urge to get into a philosophical argument with him, or prove to him that I had been a fan of shepard fairey since the late 90's - I told myself, "I'm not going to waste my breathe on this judgmental hipster." He then asked me where I was from, only to start some totally unprovoked diatribe about how uncool the Charleston area is, and how there are lots of yuppies, and posers. Then he asked me what I did for a living, only to sound very disinterested and dismissive. This was an EXTREMELY unpleasant interaction. Granted, it IS a stupid hat - but I don't want to be singled out and basically bullied when I'm just trying to enjoy a meal; especially when I went into the place in such a good mood. I called the place to make a complaint, and the guy who answered the phone sounded like he had just taken 20 bong hits - and kept apologizing, but in a way that seemed really disingenuous, because he talked so, so, so slow and gentle. I think it may have actually been the guy I was calling to complain about, just using a weird voice. Whatever. Maybe it was a misunderstanding. I hope you all have a better experience than I did.

Mind blowing crepes! Sure eating anything out of a van is kind of crepey (nyuk nyuk) but the food here was delicious. I unfortunately will never know if the food was really that good, or I was really that hungover, but no matter, I would LOVE to eat here again. It does take a few minutes for them to do their thing, which is a bit disappointing, especially when your head hurts, and you're dying of starvation. Highly recommend the Cuban, the banana nutella, and the "dream" crepes - all very very delicious.

My favorite meal in Charleston!!! After a long day of napping at the beach, I had worked up quite an appetite. My friend recommended Tokyo Crepes, which was conveniently located just a hop skip and a jump from the Atlantic Ocean. I ordered the Sunny Chicken, which had spinach, feta cheese, sun dried tomatoes, and of course, chicken, all wrapped in a slightly sweet blanket to create a satisfying meal. The absolute highlight was the Crunchy Apple - bites of granny smith apple covered in vanilla ice cream, frosted flakes, and a wonderful whipped cream... no words can adequately describe this masterpiece. Try it for yourself, you won't be disappointed. I completely agree with the voters who elected this place as one of the best food trucks in America. Thank you Tokyo Crepes for introducing me to the Crunchy Apple.

We just returned from a wonderful vacation at Folly Beach ...I had read reviews of Tokyo Crepes and decided to try one myself . Our entire family went around 8:30 at night and got the ice cream with strawberries and chocolate syrup ..it was fantastic and one was large enough for my husband and I to share . If you are at Folly, I would recommend a visit to Tokyo Crepes .

I can't imagine a better grab-and-go beach meal. We got a Mid East Miracle crepe (falafel, feta, spinach and tzatiziki sauce) and a Smokey Pork crepe (smoked pulled pork, feta, cheddar, cucumber, corn and tzatziki sauce) but it was really hard to choose. The falafel was very tasty and not at all greasy. The crepe was filled to the point of being a bit messy but that didn't really matter at the beach. Lots of fresh spinach and the tzatiziki sauce was perfect. The pulled pork crepe was great too - very rich and flavorful with the corn and (especially) the cucumber providing a fresh balance to the taste. Six bucks each, plenty of food and completely portable. Perfect!

When I asked my husband how many stars he would give Tokyo Crepes, he said the only reason he wouldn't give it a five is because it's not in Paris. ;-). We LOVE Nutella crepes and these were the best we have had outside of Paris. Every night after dinner we got the dogs walked to the food truck to enjoy one for dessert. Super cute , convenient and delish!

What an excellent food truck idea! As soon as a local friend suggested it I was eager to check this joint out. They pour, fry, baste and fill crepes Japanese style like you can find all over on the streets of Harajuku. And all of it done from the back of this sweet food truck. How cool is that!? Not to mention this is the first time I've ever seen a crepe place set up in the US, much less in such an unexpected area! When you're done with your dinner and/or beer at the nearby bar on the beach, skip the restaurant's dessert and slide in here for a crepe. The folks running the place are great to chat with and one of them even speaks Japanese! When you pay go ahead and grab one of the flying-squirrel stickers. It's unusual but very unique - I promise you'll dig this truck! They have a crepe line up including standard desserts, unusual creations and even warm-food filled meal crepes like the Cuban or the Middle-East Dream (with a punny mixture of foods from various middle eastern countries). Can't we all just get along??

I've been here several times over the last few years. The food has ranged from adequate-for-a-beach-crepe to just plain bad. There's a clear trend to the latter, unfortunately, and I won't be returning. On my most recent visit a couple of days ago they pulled a crepe from the refrigerator, threw on some low grade cheese square ham from Walmart, and drenched the thing in mustard. I'm not one to waste food, but I was too embarrassed to take a third bite and ended up throwing it away. I won't be back.

We rode by this place on bikes and decided to try it for breakfast the following morning. I ordered the teriyaki chicken crepe and my sister had the turkey bacon cheddar and egg breakfast crepe. We also each had an iced ("organic") coffee. First and foremost, the service was very slow. It took over 25 minutes to get the food crepes. PLUS another 15 for the iced coffee. There was one other customer in front of us who ordered a crepe for himself. From looking in the front window I could see plenty of grill space plus 3 working employees. Still not sure what took so long my point is the place was not visibly slammed/understaffed . The teriyaki crepe- good not great. 3 stars. The grilled chicken was a little questionable but the other ingredients including a sliced hard boiled egg and spinach, were good. Also, the crepe itself was done right. The breakfast crepe was tasty with a good portion of egg and turkey bacon. The Coffee. I walked away somewhat confused on how it took 15 minutes for 2 iced coffees. They were served out of a hot urn over frozen coffee cubes which was one of the only things this place seemed to do right. So we had to ask for extra ice tool cool them down. The coffee was strong and after mixing up our own it was pretty good coffee but not worth all the extra effort. Overall I was disappointed. To put our time there in perspective my girlfriend walked to Taco boy( a good taco joint 3 blocks away) while we waited for the crepes and had eaten AND walked back while we still waited. Tokyo Crepes would really do well if they were a more efficient operation.

I had low expectations for Folly Beach food and when I found out the crepe "place" was a crepe TRUCK with Japanese references, I had to scrape my hopes off the hot summer pavement. But, I was pleasantly surprised. There are an assortment of sweet and savory crepes. I ordered the Smokey Pork which came as a generous portion wrapped in a light crepe cone with thick-cut ham, sweet corn, refreshing cucumber, and some cheesy goodness. I also drank a hot ginger tea which had good vibrancy of ginger flavor. Be prepared to take your food to go, although the truck does have one semi-questionable looking table and 3 chairs by the side of the road, which was actually reasonably comfortable.

Even though I think the Cuban Crepe needs to be hot and pressed without the salad, I'm giving Tokyo Crepes 5-stars because everything was great and fresh and yummy! The Spiced Pork that my friends had was outstanding and had awesome fresh corn on it, so great! Can't wait to go back and give the sweet crepes a try now that I've tried the savory. They were parked right at Folly Beach, which I guess is their regular spot and I'd put them up against some of the great food trucks in Atlanta.

Awesome place, probably my favorite place in folly matter a fact. The service is very nice and the place itself itself is awesome. I got the nutty nut twice when I was up there and it was incredible. The menu is unique and has things for breakfast lunch and desert. The flying squirrel logo itself makes you want to love the place. Must go if in folly beach area!

I liked Tokyo Crepes so much I went twice in one day to this little trailer. I got the Middle east Miracle for mid-day Brunch and it was amazing! The crepe was perfectly cooked and the heaping amount of spinach offset the fried falafel making it a great breakfast/lunch power meal. The falafel was cut up and dispensed throughout with feta and tzatziki. It was so delicious! Later that evening the entire group I was with wanted a sweet crepe. I think we all went a bit overload with peanut butter, banana, nutella, whipped creme, ice cream.....I don't think anyone had all those items but we all had at least three toppings. It was completely unnecessary but so tasty! I am definitely more of a savory person but I am glad I indulged in a sinfully sweet crepe. When I got back to Folly I will have a crepe from here every time!

I love crepes and was extremely excited to try this place. The one star is because out of the five items we tried 2 were good. The other three were awful either bc they were all ice cream or whipped cream. You couldn't taste anything else. Also we were the only people waiting for our order and after 20 min we went to the window to check on it and they informed us they had been ready just waiting for us to come back to them.

We were in Folly Beach this weekend and I had read about Tokyo Crepes, however when we went to the spot we learned that in the off season they are only there on Fri-Sun, but they were worth the wait!! I had the Banana-tella crepe and it was fantastic, loaded with both and served so it wasn't too messy. Worth a trip if you're in the area.

Hit up this portable place while staying in Folly Beach. Rode bikes right up to the place and ordered our crepes. We ordered one with fruit and custard and another with chocolate and fruit and both were amazing. One could easily miss this place if driving by, so slow down and take a look at everything Folly has to offer. Little hole in the wall joints like this have surprisingly really good food.

I drive all the way from Goose Creek and just love Yukari & the crew. Anytime someone visits us, we have to go here! I love any crepe and hard to pick just one. I even like the savory ones that are a lunch on the go! If you are visiting Folly Beach, you MUST go see their lil Crepe Truck! Follow them of Facebook because sometimes she is somewhere else, don't want to miss out. I promise!

I love this stand (and make no mistake, that is what this is) and I am a frequent customer! The Crepes are amazing and there is a broad selection of fillings to fit your taste. Try the "Banana Dream" (my favorite) or another sweet, decadent creation off their menu. On my last visit I noticed that they are now selling ice cream, and have incorporated this to their crepe menu as well. This makes this the perfect (and only) little dessert stand on Folly Beach. Great for an after the beach snack, after dinner dessert, or just a treat to yourself!

The first time I ever had a crepe was in Hawaii, and I haven't found one like that till I found Tokyo Crepes in Folly Beach! The food is simply amazing. The menu is small but offers a little bit flavor for everyone. The way they fold the crepe in a cone is fantastic, it fits in your hand wonderfully. They don't really have seating for people, but the cone works for on-the-go too. The prices are reasonable especially since after you eat the first one you'll want another. Overall, a great place! I'll definitely be a regular when I move there.

One word: Delicious! I had the Sweet Devil and the Banana Tella Cheese (on two separate days, of course). Both were amazing. I'm sad I have to return to Chicago and can't have Tokyo Crepes everyday. I'm checking "yes" on outdoor seating only because they have a table with a few chairs in front of the truck. :)

Epic status. This place blew my mind. Get the cuban and do not look back. Also if you are like me and are well endowed in the "belly" region, get a nutella and banana crepe. All those calories can be put to use as fuel for swimming or possibly a pillow for some beer to rest on. Go you.

In June 2010 during a visit to the adorable Folly Beach, I stumbled upon Tokyo Crepes. Literally housed in a small trailer, they prepare regular and dessert crepes. I ordered the chocolate almond crepe and it was very chocolatey and tasty. Ask for the Japanese soda for a nice surprise. They close from 2:00 to 4:00 each day, and all day Tuesday. Cash only.

Absolutely wonderful, cute, charming, personable little place. You walk up to it and choose from a (thankfully) short but creative visual menu. Super cheap too and great for a light snack. We got the Banana/ Nutella crepe for dessert, it was made fresh and served like a cone. Caution Vegans: there is egg in the crepe. Wanted to come early the next day and finish our vacation with a crepe breakfast but they don't open till 830am.

I had my first taste of Tokyo Crepes at a recent food truck rodeo and really enjoyed them. I was amazed at the extensive list of menu options available out of this little food truck. A large printed menu board hung on the front of the 'ordering stage' that showed all of their offerings with clever photos and arrows pointing to all of the components of each crepe. They had a tremendous variety of both sweet and savory crepes, as well as soups, Benton boxes, and other assorted side items. I went with a vegetarian crepe that had freshly fried falafel, spinach, and homemade tzatziki sauce. The crepe was perfectly thin and tender and all of the components blended together wonderfully. You could really taste the quality of each ingredient and appreciate them individually and even more together. The folks inside the truck were friendly and served me very quickly, which can often be one of the downsides of ordering from some food trucks. I definitely look forward to trying more of their crepes.

This tiny roadside stand is as quirky as the beachy foundation it sits on. Constructed from a small RV there were three cooks sandwiched in the back end working proficiently to turn out one crepe at a time. While the wait was a tad time consuming in the mosquito swarming warmth, the wait was well worth it. Great idea and scrumptious! And the hours are perfect for a festive little island town.

Hm.

Enjoy!

Fabulous! A must try on Folly. Great food, quick, and inexpensive. We love the Sunny chicken and the cuban. Although I have yet to have anything that wasn't great!

  • Gina L.

  • Amanda D.

Really yummy! Husband and I had the sunny chicken. Delicious! These were my first crepes and they were great. They also have another location. It was a great fast beach lunch. Price was a little in the high side and I would like to try some of the fruit crepes. :)

  • Andie C.

  • A K.

Fresh, handmade, and as healthy or as you want, or don't want to make them! The Cuban and the Nutty nut are the absolute best! Had to make at least 3 visits to this fantastic little food truck during our week stay! Soooo good!

  • Helen D.

Hm.

    (2)
  • Rachel A.

This place satisfied every sweet dessert craving I had. A perfectly made crepe with fresh apples, corn flakes for crunch, Ice cream, whipped cream and caramel drizzle on top! Do not go to folly beach without trying these!

    (5)
  • John John K.

    (3)
  • Johna P.

  • Caitlin A.

I didn't love my gluten free tuna salad crepe, but I did love that they were friendly, helpful about my food allergy, and the portion was large. Their coffee was really good too. And to be fair, I should have ordered a sweet crepe. Pretty good experience at a super cute little food truck.

  • Marcela V.

Getting my crepe took a while, but it was worth the wait. It was one of the best crepes I've had! I had the Nutella banana crepe and I especially appreciated that they diced the banana instead of putting big slices of it like most places do.

  • Renee T.

Associate at the counter was very friendly, probably one of the friendliest in Folly beach! The crepes were ok. I thought they were slightly overpriced for what you get.

  • Hannah R.

Tokyo crepes were delish! Hubby had the "devil" and I had the "crunchy apple". Portion was huge, could not finish mine. Next time we are in FB, this will be our first stop! Be sure to check their hours, it changes weekly.

Falafel crepes. Enough said. But seriously, this crepe stand is amazing. They even have really good coffee and are open really late (2AM?) on the weekend. Very affordable - you won't be disappointed!

  • Brianna L.

AWESOME! The only bad thing was it filled me up so fast I couldn't finish it. I had the smoked pork crepe.I'm going back tomorrow for a sweet crepe! My dad had the Cuban crepe. He loved it!

Fabulous Food Cart Eats!! Had a sweet banana chocolate custard crepe - great dessert after a walk down Center Street. Watched them make it before my eyes! Will return for a savory crepe soon!

Great place to eat next to the beach! Had both a savory and sweet crepe and thought the savory was good but the sweet was delicious.

  • Jonathan B.

  • Kevin L.

Come on people, where else can you get crepes like this in a food truck on Folly Beach. This is truly as good as it gets. We had spent an evening at Taco Boy and were walking back and saw this gem on the side of the street. What a fantastic idea. We sampled sever different dessert crepes, all of which were fantastic. What's not to love of a made to order crepe out of a food truck.

    (5)
  • John H.

I promise!

  • David C.
